Jack:
I repainted my fascias earlier this year using the following:
The silver paint that I used was the same PPG product? DBC33584,
mixed 1:1 with DT Reducer.
The black was "SEM 39144 /Trim Paint", mixed 1:1 with the DT Reducer.
For the front fascia I did some sanding work on an old ding and
covered this area with a PPG adhesion promoter; DPX801.
I covered everything with a PPG clear urethane, DCU2021, mixed
4:1:1:1 with DX814 Universal Flexibilizer, DT Reducer and DCX
Hardener.
Everything together cost about $350 and could have painted two or
three cars' bumpers. I used the extra black to paint the rear louver
and a few little pieces. I painted the fascias on the car, rather
than removing them, because I found a couple of extra bolts holding
the bumpers on that are not in the manuals and have NO ACCESS to
remove them. I gave up after a day because I thought I was going to
break something.
I used my Craftsman 6HP, 30 gallon air compressor and Craftsman paint
gun. It took a while to dial in the right air pressure/paint mix by
spraying several large pieces of cardboard, but the result was a fair
paint job. I will posted some pictures on my blog if you are
interested. I had never painted anything of significance before this
and am fairly pleased. The only thing I should have done would have
been to spend another ½ day on my preparation of the surfaces.
I hope this helps.
