[DML] Stalling when clutch is depressed

Thank you to each who offered suggestions about my stalling as I brake to
stop or turn. I have only checked the Idle Speed motor so far, and it seems to
still be functioning, though a little differently from what I recall when
checking it about 2 years ago. In any case...
I notice that the stalling actually occurs not when I brake, but when I
depress the clutch to downshift. I can brake until the car almost bucks from
being in too high a gear, but it doesn't die until I hit the clutch. Then it dies
instantly as if I hit a kill switch. Yesterday driving home I slowed down
without downshifting as I turned... no stall. A block later I pressed the clutch
before I touched the brakes. It instantly stalled. Does this narrow the
possibilities of what to look at first?
