Hey Carl,
I have seen a few cars where the grey is darker than mine so there is some
definite variation in the tones of grey plus the carpet types across the
build years.
I wonder if top part of your body tub is of an earlier type (hence the
missing compartment door for the tools). Does the fibreglass have the
smooth (later cars) or textured effect (found normally only on the very
early cars) that can be seen through the glass on either side of the
louvers?
Immaculate NCT's are great for concourse but I wouldn't recommend regular
driving on 26 year old rubber as the compound won't be what it was even if
it looks new.
QC means Quality Control so perhaps the welds highlighted were marked for
further attention. If the door had too many flaws to put right it may have
been the reason for scrap being written on it. By the sound of it the welds
were dealt with and then the words were simply just not removed.
Some early cars were moved to the side and then re-worked a long time later
which is why sometimes you'll find a later VIN with some typically earlier
features on it.
>From memory the bezel was fitted once the car reached the States so it looks
very likely that your car never left the UK.

Subject: [DML] VIN #11777
Hi guys,
Last year I became the proud owner of a 1982, Grey, Automatic,
DeLorean VIN #11777.
Well, recently I was keen to delve into her history a bit, as like
many car's it is something of a mystery.
She has only had 3 other owners prior to me and I have a feeling that
the car has never been out of the UK, which I believe is rare in
itself.
However, there is clearly more to this car than immediately meets the
eye. After taking a closer look, there are a number of quirky
features...
For example:
There is no tool compartment in the front of the underbody for a
start. The holes have been marked out and drilled, but the actual
area was never cut out. Has anyone ever come across this before?
It also does not have a numberplate bezel and once and no holes have
been drilled out to make place for one, could further support the
fact it didn't go abroad?
The interior doesn't appear to be either grey or black! It is more of
a charcoal colour?
The passenger side door has a number of markings written on it, with
one of the words being 'scrap' and quite a few of the welding spots
have been ringed with the letters QC next to them?
The car itself is in a very reasonable condition, the frame is almost
immaculate, the interior only has some minor scratches and scuffs and
although obviously not accurate the mileage currently reads at
000004!!! When I bought the car last year it also still had the
original NCT's on which were still so new that the little spikes were
still showing!
So, there you have it, if anyone can shed any light on any of the
above, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Best regards
Carl
