Probably should have posted this alongside my tuna baffle comments: John's fuel tank pickup is genius in its simplicity. The only flaw is the open bottom baffle, not only in design, but also in construction (mine broke). The remainder of his pickup is excellent engineering. With a proper baffle, it simply is impossible to starve the pump for fuel. The pump draws from the bottom of the tank, where gasoline is ostensibly coolest, rather than the top (the stock pickup rides on the surface of the fuel). Installation only takes a minute or so. The baffle is the only weak link, not in concept, but in execution. My low pressure setup uses one of John's pickup screens, but that's all, simply because he doesn't sell 6 PSI pumps or pieces of 2" NPT pipe for them to ride in. Nevertheless, I always give him credit for the design. Pictures in #5939's Yahoo album are even titled "Hervey Inspired Tank Pickup."
