That's why you should always replace that little rubber cap on the bleeder nipple. It keeps the dirt and water out so it doesn't plug up or corrode. Same on the brakes. It also helps to bleed the system regularly, that way things like this don't happen. At least every 2 years. And you will NOT need that adjustable link after replacing that plastic line. You might want to also clean up the bleeder screw hole on the cylinder while you've got it off.
