Tom, I don't know exactly how long ago the roller pump was designed but one
of my Bosch catalog shows fuel pumps of that style being used in 1970 914
Porsche.
As for as the type of pump does it really matter if it reliable, delivers
you want on a drive for 3000 miles and you not have to worry about the pump.
It's quiet and doesn't breakdown under heat. How much more do you want.

Your post got me curious. You're saying that the rollers are a 30 year old
invention. What setup does the new pump use? Please, explain.
I also have to disagree on your idea of warranty. If a product is so good
why not just sell it with very long or even lifetime warranty? I know I
would! I makes to sense to discourage potential customers by giving just 90
day warranty. If it never breaks they can safely warranty it forever! It
won't cost them anything... if they are this good.
On the other hand, if the manufacturer is not sure about the longevity of
the product.... 90 seems about right.
