Farrar's PCV is plumbed identically to mine. He uses the same PCV
valve as well:

Notice: PCV is attached to a filter air breather. PCV is attached to a
full vacuum barb (not a ported barb on the side of the throttle
plates). This is how PCV is supposed to be plumbed. Considering that
I've been working on cars for more than a quarter century, I think by
now I've learned how to plumb PCV.

theory only makes sense if you capped off the large hose on the oil
breather. That is the route of least resistance for the crankcase
gasses to escape. I don't see how enough "stuff" could escape through
the distributor to cause a fire if the breather is unobstructed.
