Looking at it again I must admit that Bill is right, the ignition
ECU is fused, but no fuse between relay and ignition coil. Only the
resistor could be seen as a current limiting device. To see the wire
itself uuuuhm well David, that's a bit extreme.
But you are absolutely right - it wouldn't protect the cap either.
The iginion coil could burn and break down, but that would not
affect the cap.
You guys really have strange problems :-)
Btw - are there any pictures somewhere ?
