A couple of possabilities come to mind. First I would check the inertia switch and make sure it is mounted ahead of the bonnet release, NOT hanging on the Lambda counter. Next see if it has a white splotch of paint on it. If it does not then get a new one. Another common problem is a bad pick-up coil. That would happen a lot more frequently and would not need a bump to cause it. The last is a whole list of causes which all have to do with bad connections, loose plugs, or pins in a connector that have backed out. Means going over the entire electrical system. Start at the fuse box.
