Dan As I said previous. The Stabilus struts were out of production until I
brought them back about 5 years ago. DMCH was using and to my knowledge
still using an aftermarket strut. About 2 years ago I was solicited by the
company they buy them from if I wanted to buy them. The cost was very
attractive but I wanted the quality instead of the price. Mine and Rob's are
from the original specifications but now made new.

Thanks Mark -
Are you sure the DMCH dealers don't? The 08/29/05 DMCH newsletter says:
"Struts are now available! DMC (Texas) door struts are now made by
Stabilus, original supplier. #100592 Door Strut $39.95 ea..."
I know that was two and a half years ago, but did they go to Stabilus
for a while then switch suppliers again? Also, do the Stabilus struts
Hervey sells match the specs of the Stabilus struts the car came with
from the factory?
I currently have Stabilus Lift-O-Mats on my doors and I like them.
Doubt they are the original because I can't imagine any gas strut
would last 26 years, but I'm unclear where a previous owner got them.
