I traced the lead. It seems to go back into the wiring harness. I also did a continuity check between the vacuum solenoid and the microswitch. It's getting current, presumably from some strange unfathomable part of the wiring harness particular to automatic DeLoreans. When I disconnect current from the idle speed microswitch, the engine won't idle, so that's doing its job. I've also disconnected power from the idle speed regulator and the thermotime switch, both with negative results, so I assume they're functioning correctly as well. I think I'm resigned to the fact that my car idles at 1200 RPM and will occasionally die a few seconds after I start it up hot. Oh, well. I will drive it like this, then. It's either that or take a very expensive vacation to Houston.
