Where did you get these new struts? A reputable vendor I hope. Where are you and how cold is it when you evaluate the door performance? The colder it is the less likely they will open properly. Get the car into a 70 degree garage for a night before you decide you even have a problem. Finally, carefully look at the hinges. A cracked or damaged hinge causes these problems as well. A busted hinge may be more likely than a need to adjust the torsion bars. A full time vendor replaced my struts twice before finally finding a busted hinge - its hard to find unless you are looking for it. Often Torsion bars are adjusted when the problem lies elsewhere. Adjusting the torsion bars should be approached with caution and only after other causes are eliminated. -----Original Message----- From: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of daviddelorean Sent: Sun 1/13/2008 11:13 AM To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DML] Doors not working properly I visited some DMC owners recently and some repair shops. One thing I noticed on the cars that are in very good shape is that the doors as light as a feather. I could lift the handle with my pinky finger and whoooooooooooosh with no effort at all the doors shot up. My car isn't in that great of shape, and my doors weigh a ton. The passenger side door is very heavy but does pop up when open. The driver door weighs a ton, and needs help opening all the way. The hydrolic struts are brand new. Some of the shop owners told me that my doors need to be "set" and I got quotes of $2,500 - $3,500 to take the doors off and fix them. That seems like a lot of money. Is there any other way I can fix the doors myself?
