[DML] Re: spark plugs/brake fluid 3 vs. 4

I'm surprised no one said anything about your brake fluid. Difference
between DOT 3 and 4 is its boiling point (4 is higher). There are also
differences in formulations of course, but the DOT rating refers to
boiling point only. Remember that boiled brake fluid is ruined and
must be changed.

Our brake rubber catches a lot of flak for being unable to stand up to
common DOT 3 products. I think it's merely a function of being 26
years old, but that's flame bait for another thread. Just to be safe,
however, I do run a synthetic blend DOT 4.

Less expensive brake fluid is glycol based. Pure silicone formulations
are available, but they will not mix with residual glycol fluid.
Synthetic blends, however, do mix and seem to be a nice middle ground
(kind of like ester oil in the A/C rather than PAG).

Regarding your spark plugs: I run Delco R42's myself. It's a nice mid
range plug for all driving conditions. If you plan to upgrade to high
voltage ignition, I definitely recommend Delco's. They hold up
extremely well (better than exotic plugs IMHO). Remember to use your
spark plugs to indicate conditions inside the combustion chambers.
