Not being a lawyer and the thread is getting away from Delorean
specific, Mr Smith has commited fraud and can go to jail besides
having to remburse for damages. The moral of this is that a buyer has
a responsability to do some "homework" to avoid this. Yes, the buyer
does hae legal recourse but it can be timeconsuming and costly. Many
States no longer keep records over 20 years so you cannot always
complete a "Chain of Ownership". There are many ways a seller can
misrepresent, this scenario being only one of them. "BUYER BEWARE".
When buying from a private individual there are always some risks
involved. Possably more than a dealer.
