4. Remove it from the car, ship it to him fedex for less than the
cost of a tank of gas, and have him send it back.
5. Buy an alternator from a reputable vendor, swap them, send this
one in for repair and keep it on the shelf of the garage as a spare, and
as a reminder.

I probably could change the alternator myself...BUT...the altenrator
is new. It blew after 5 weeks and is warrantied. The garage will
replace it for free, but I have to get it there. So my options to get
my car to the garage are:
1. Drive it the 280 miles with no alternator and hope I make it.
2. Have it shipped and pay a trucker $400.
3. Tow it myself with a U-Haul for $200 and travel 45mph getting 5mpg.
