I couldn't agree more with that. Spending money you don't have is
beyond stupid. But people do it all the time with SUVs and Pickup
Trucks that get into those price ranges. Although most time it's
usually a two-income household.
Now to play devils advocate, you'd be surprised just how many people
can actually afford cars like this. How? They live in older, or rual
houses that are already paid off. So with no monthly mortgage, that
extra money goes for paying off expensive cars and trucks. Take a
drive through the country by-ways and you'd be amazed just what you
see. On Highway 13 in Mississippi I found some older house with a
couple of lawn mowers rusting in the front yard, and a C5 Corvette
parked under a tree, covered in dirt with tall grass growing up around
it's flat tires. Kinda neat to see some future barn-find in the
making. But the point is that people's ability to afford things can't
always be based upon their income.
