I could be wrong but IIRC: James said it takes about 30 days to strip down
an existing car and prep the molded body to be re-built. It would be easier
to use the molds to create new fiberglass bodies and start from the ground
up. According to some statement of law or something...... A certain
percentage of the car has to be original to use the original VIN plate from
a donor car. Hence they would be sold as "Kit cars" with no VINs
Hurray to my warehouse tour group for asking many questions on this topic.

Something here still does not make sense.. if there are all of these
"donor" cars out there that DMCH can get fenders and bars from, they can
also take the whole car (including the VIN plate) and rebuild the car using
a real VIN instead of a "kit" car.
Build a "new" car around a vin plate, unless there is an expectation that
the new "kit" cars will have more value than a real DeLorean?
(BTW, Since the 1983 DeLoreans are "kit" cars we should come up with a new
name for these proposed DMCH cars! LOL!) ----- Yes Ken, I am JOKING.
I can see it now;
"For sale: Driver side torsion bar and fender for a DeLorean!!! Car
included for free."
