[DML] How to clean the engine - oxidation

Hello

As you probably know already I'm in the process of replacing my frame. A new 
frame will soon be in the works...
While I'm waiting for the frame I want to clean and paint my engine and I'm 
having a tough time will years of oxidation on the engine block and 
transmission. Can someone help me out here? I can easily clean off all the 
old oil (although I haven't received any ideas on how to seal the tranny), 
but the oxidation is a problem. All the removable parts like the valve 
covers were bead blasted and then powder coated and look beautiful. Doing 
the same with the engine block and the transmission would be difficult...
