Paul, 
Brand new lower ball joints that you would find in the automotive stores
don't have the grease fitting in the bottom because most are now greased and
the rubber boot sealed. They also don't have the grove for the retainer to
hold it in after it's pressed in and they don't have the hole in the top for
the castellated nut pin. 
To do it right you have to have the above things for a De Lorean ball joint
that is made for the Delorean.
