[DML] Can you steam clean a Delorean engine?

I remember seeing services that would steam clean a car's engine when I 
was first driving, about a century ago. I can't find such services 
these days (would doing so damage the computers in the cars?). What do 
people do (if anything) to keep their engine compartments clean?
