It really isn't important what it is, what IS important is to get it
all out. Worst case, you leave some of it and it softens up and comes
loose, plugging up filters and the fuel pump. Try Acetone. It is
dangerous stuff but if you handle it carefully it is the best stuff to
use. Do it in an area with plenty of ventilation, use Nitrile gloves
and if you have one, a resparator with organic filters and safety
glasses. My guess is a hose "liquified" as you suspect.
