I don't think it's that dangerous either. For example... Just today I over filled the tank at the gas station because the trigger didn't automatically click off. I then put the car in a garage. After a while the temperature difference from the outside to the garage caused the gas to expand, push my fuel pump & boot up off of the tank and gas leaked out all over the floor. Lesson Learned = drive your car more than 1 mile after over filling your tank ;-) Shannon Y -------------- 5a. Re: Fuel tank vent line Posted by: "David Teitelbaum" jtrealty@xxxxxxxxxxxxx jtrealtywebspannet Date: Thu Jun 28, 2007 5:41 am ((PDT)) As dangerous as this post may make it appear, it is not all that bad. You have to allow some way of venting excess pressure or you *could* cause the tank or a hose to burst. All you need to do is take the vent hose from the fuel tank, run it up to as high a point as you can and loop it back down in a place away from any hot spots. This is what was done on cars before vapor recovery systems. Do not try to vent it directly into the motor. Raw gas could get in and a backfire could cause unintended combustion!
