Sounds ignition-related.  A misfire will sometimes seem to smooth out  at 
higher RPM's but is always rough at idle.  What kind of plugs, wires,  etc did 
you use? where did you get it? is it gapped correctly? is the rotor on  
properly? Are the wires going to the right cylinders?
