I currently have the same problem with my car too, and it's with the
wiring harness. Pull the Lamp Assembly out, and it blinks just fine.
Remount the Assembly, and it goes to a fast blink again. If I bend and
flex the wiring harness connecting to the plug, I can both simutate,
or remedy the problem depending upon how far I bend the wires. Even if
I do manage to get the wires packed back in to get rid of the fast
blink, it will only fix it for a couple of miles or so.
If you discover a fix, let me know. Otherwise, I figure I'll have to
buy a new Taillamp Harness.
Quick FYI: If you look in your local autoparts store, you can find a
nice wire brush specificly for cleaning Light Bulb Sockets. It's only
a couple bucks, and works quicker and more efficient than sand paper,
or pencil erasers at removing oxidation. It comes in handy for both
regular car maintenance, and is a must have if you've got a boat
trailer.
