***** Moderator's Note *****
I think we have established that there is a
wide variety of DeLorean owners within the
community - some with more means than others.
We have also established that it is important to
understand the audience you are targeting when
planning an event. Finally, we have established
that the list would run a whole lot smoother if
the "approve" and "delete" buttons weren't so
close to each other on the moderator toolbar or
if I had a "recall" button.
Let's all take a deep breath, count to whatever
it takes, and keep this one from escalating
out of control. It's fair to talk about the
DOA event with an eye towards helping them
improve their planning for future events. Whether
you are a fan of the DOA or not, it doesn't help
anyone to have events like this fail.
The DeLorean community is a small one, and we
don't do ourselves any favors by denigrating any
members of the community. Someday, any of you might
need somebody's help out there - there isn't any
sense in having all of these burning bridges about...
Future posts on this topic will be accepted as long
as they stay focused on how to plan a successful
event. We can do that and keep the personal
comments out of it.

Daniel,
Maybe if someone in the DOA knew how to work with and treat people the DOA
wouldn't be in the shape it's in now. Representatives of the DOA have
treated me and 90% of De Lorean owners like crap and you and them know it.
They have been told by people not buying their products and letting the
organization run down because of De Lorean owners not rejoining.
It's unfortunate that everyone can't just drive their car in and say fix it
because if it wasn't for " The last independent De Lorean parts vendor" a
lot of the cars would still be sitting in the 5 car garages and driveways
rusting away because of all the problems and the cost of fixing it.
I hope the next time you go out to eat and the menu you look at doesn't have
a price on it, and if it does you get up and leave calling it a cheap
outfit. I picked up a new customer last month that was charged $100.00 for
an oil change. He doesn't have to look at the price on the menu and the way
he got to the 5 car garage was by looking.
I also hope you don't need a clutch fork or something that one of the other
De Lorean vendors doesn't have and the vendor tells the shop mechanic to fix
it with a tie wrap.
Last thing, Why are they now sell Bosch filters that they told me would ruin
the car. I have been selling Bosch since day one and caught a lot of grief
over it. What happened to the God of Purflux.
Now 5 years and going strong.

And very proud to " The last independent De Lorean parts vendor."

The Red Rock Resort Casino is a great location for a DeLorean event. I'm in
Vegas nearly
once a month, and have stayed at the Red Rock several times. It's only a
year old, and a
BILLION DOLLAR casino resort off of the snarled traffic of the strip. Where
would you park
your DeLorean at a strip casino? The scenery at the Red Rock National park
right behind
the resort would make for beautiful group photos, and it's only 15 minutes
from the
airport. Even though the strip is closer, it takes longer to get to/from
your hotel because
of the traffic.
