I had a similar problem and when I was over at Dave Teitelbaum's he  
discovered that one side was very much out of adjustment.  Now it's better  but not 
great.  Perhaps even though there is some meat on the pads, they  may be glazed 
and not providing the proper friction.   (Especially if  you've been driving 
around all day like that...)
 
Take the wheels off and confirm that when you pull on the brake, that the  
mechanism is really moving and that it is properly adjusted, ie it's squeezing  
the rotor but not dragging.

My  D's parking brake has never really worked (since I've had the 
car - about  2 1/2 years). I had it adjusted while it was in DMC 
Garden Grove's shop  but still not good.

I can pull the handle all the way up to stop, and  it feels like it's 
tightening, but I can then also drive around all day  with it in that 
position and roll backwards at stoplights on an incline or  see it 
roll across the sloped parking lot if I didn't leave it in  gear.  In 
general, I just don't use it at all.

The brakes, in  general work perfectly.  No complaints at all, there.

I haven't  pulled the rear wheels off to actually look at the parking 
brake pads, but  Don and Danny had them off, replacing the wheel 
bearings a while back and  didn't say anything about the pad being 
bad, etc.  I trust those guys  to let me know if something is 
obviously amiss.

So I guess my  question is: has anyone else had problems like this 
and is there anything  specific I should look for when I climb under 
to check out the cables,  mechanisms, pads, etc.?
