Most major brands are ok - 3-5 years is the max life of a battery. The
best you can do for big gaps in run time is to either disconnect the
battery or put a switch on the battery. In a hard winter I might get my
D out once every month or two - never an issue - turn the switch and
start it. I hesitate to charge the battery in the car. The potential
fumes in the space just above the battery - the fuses, etc. are, in my
opinion, one of the primary causes of so many contact issues with the
fuses and relays etc. (Lucas connections too!)
