hello my fellow delorean enthusiasts out there, happy new year! i am regretfully selling off most of my delorean collection that i have accumulated over the last six years since i bought my car. my car is for sale right now on the dml...just look for the add with many pictures of the car and the very long/detailed of my car. the car is still for sale, however, i'm back and forth as to whether i want to sell it or not. i'm putting all the money from the sale of my collection back into the car for a top of the line stereo/speakers/dvd player/subs/alarm/etc...and possibly another toy i don't know yet. anyway, if there are any serious collectors out there, or anyone that is looking at starting a collection, e-mail me or call me for any questions. i believe to have one of the more extensive collections of delorea and back to the future memorabilia in the world. i have spent many thousands on the collection...way more than i would care to add up all the receipts that i've recorded since the very beginning. i was told from several other great friends of mine and relatives that are also collectors of other things to never look at all the receipts for fear of knocking yourself out. anyway, 99% of my collection is in mint/near mint condition. i have collected extremely rare delorean autographed letters from john/memorabilia from the factory in ireland/tons of back to the future memorabilia/toy cars/almost all the delorean world magazines/binders/just about every magazine ever featuring the delorean and protected in two layers of protective plastic with top loads/many very limited runs of diecast deloreans/rare delorean factory jackets/one of only three ever made black leather jackets/about every book ever written on the car and john (i.e. original mint copy of stainless steel illusion), extremely rare advertising pieces from the factory and all over the world/etc. etc. etc. i'd prefer to sell these pieces to people that are truly serious and would rather no t spend all the time listing everything on ebay and spending hours on doing just that...and giving them money out of the proceeds of the sale of the items. however, i may just have to do that. let me know if any of you are interested in anything. i also own one of the most pristine full intact delorean dealership signs in the world i would bet along with the extremely rare child battery operated back to the future toy car for children to drive around. the only other one that i have seen was in chicago this summer at the convention on stage if any of you saw it...mine was in better condition as well. anyway, sorry for the long-winded description...just wanted to get everything in there. call me with any questions... kris kurth minneapolis kkurth2675@xxxxxxxxxxx 651-253-9226 cell -- Financial Liberty Mortgage, Corp. He said it involved a lot of very careful flycutting and that it took a LOT of time and hard work. It's not a new block - he did this so that the car would still have the original engine block, even if it was modified. Are you sure it's impossible? At this point I'm starting to think I should just take out the engine, disassemble everything, and photograph every nut and bolt.. then when that's done, go have it dyno'd again. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, wingd2@... wrote: > > FWIW - the liners from a 3.0 Eagle engine will NOT fit into a 2.8 > Delorean block, even with machine work. Re: Questions on DMC #3416 answered.. sort of Posted by: "kKoncelik@xxxxxxx" kKoncelik@xxxxxxx kkoncelik Tue Jan 9, 2007 8:12 am (PST) I have one of the 3.0 L engines in the car I bought from Arizona. It also has the odd fire and it is clearly NOT the PVR DeLorean block. ITs obvious near the timing marks and the block itself is a bit different. There are two of them here one is the Eagle engine 3.0 and it has the different heads and bottom along with a different intake manifold and it has a 4 belt pulley but the block is the exact same as what came in the Arizona D. The engine that came on one DeLorean was a rebuilt 3.0 with the 3.0 Block and the rest Delorean engine parts. We are going to look at putting it on the dnyo in the next few days and see what it does. The car has a different sound and is definitely a bit quicker although I don't know how much faster. You can't just build a 3 litre odd-fire from a selection of components from both. because of the differences in the gudgeon pins and conrods. Odd-fired gudgeon pins are pressed in and smaller, even fires are fully floating and larger. The big ends on the even fire engines are larger. The actual block - that is the main single casting in the engine, is externally ALMOST identical, and perfectly interchangable. The bolt pattern on the timing cover and rocker covers is identical across all PRVs (that I've seen) except fot the right hand rocker cover on the engines equipped with a balance shaft - they're about half an inch longer but otherwise the same. The even fire engines have a higher, smoother pitch to their engine note Martin kKoncelik@xxxxxxx wrote: > I have one of the 3.0 L engines in the car I bought from Arizona. Re: Questions on DMC #3416 answered.. sort of Posted by: "Martin Gutkowski - DMC Ltd" martin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx heavenrest Tue Jan 9, 2007 6:53 pm (PST) I know it's possible to turn an 88mm block into a 91 - ie 2664 to 2849. Never thought about 2849 to 2975 because things stat to get very tight in the block. IMO if he modified the block, he was doing it the hard way.... Everything else is interchangable with the 3 litre engine apart from the thread on the oil filter :-) Martin supremeadmiralsenn wrote: > Machine work on which part? Drive it, and enjoy it.. Whatever it is. My only advice would be to not make any HP claims until you can verify it. --- supremeadmiralsenn <AdmiralSenn@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > > At this point I'm starting to think I should just > take out the engine, > disassemble everything, and photograph every nut and > bolt.. then when > that's done, go have it dyno'd again. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Re: Hosting a huge archive of delorean stuff for robert AKA DMCVEGAS Posted by: "therealdmcvegas" dmcvegas@xxxxxxxxx therealdmcvegas Tue Jan 9, 2007 6:55 pm (PST) Which articles are you having trouble viewing? On my XP laptop, they all appear just fine on my side. However, I will give fair warning that at home I use strictly Macintosh, so zooming on on the TIFF files is no problem for me. If nothing else, try opening them inside Quicktime viewer, and see if you can zoom in with it. Big, if not HUGE thanks to Matt Stits for hosting this. I met with a few DeLorean owners in Houston in '05 who wanted me to burn some DVDs for them of what I have. But finally, they've got access to what I have, so take a look around. Now, first and foremost, I do NOT claim ownership of a good number of items contained within. Lots of what I have I got from other people's websites. Especially the articles, the videos, as well as the technical documents. I'm no Eric Bauman (EBaums's World), so I don't take credit for simply passing things along. If it had a watermark on it, it was left in place, and most of the time, you can pretty much tell where I got the things from. And if you don't, just ask me, and I'll point you off in the direction of where it came from. Now like I said, this is all stuff that I collected off the internet, and from friends as well. As an example, Matt who is hosting the site, took the photos of the 24K AMEX car in Reno (I don't think I ever scanned and uploadted my own personal pics), and he got some amzing photos INSIDE of the car that had never been seen before. Other things that I have in the collection in the Misc folder as well are DeLorean related, even though they may not look it. These documents are for customizing the drive train mainly. I have guides to rebuild the UN-1 Transaxle, as well what gearsets for the trans are available, based upon what car they came out of (quick segway: after Lotus Employed the UN-1 in the Esprit, they finally convinced Renault to beef up the trans. So later models are listed as being able to takeon up to 400 bhp with no problems, but only one car matched the ideal gear ratios of the DeLorean). There is also a big section of turbo charging that I have too (not DeLorean specific per se, but a DAMN good starting point on learning, designing systems, as well as showing what can be done with the D), and some info about the PRV. I believe I have some info on what vehicles it crosses over too, but not all my stuff was online. However to show you how interesting some of this stuff is, I had no idea that there is equipment available to convert the same PRV that we in our cars, for use in military-aeronautical applications... Now one last thing though. There are some fonts and Icons available. The fonts are True Type, so everyone can use them. However, the Icons are for OS X only. So unless you're on a Mac, you won't be able to see them. But if you can, they look almost like photos. In the mean time, I hope everyone enjoys! -Robert vin 6585 "X" --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Ken Baker" <kenbaker1265@...> wrote: > > Why is it in the current format? Re: Original Lower Control Arm Posted by: "John Hervey" john@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx johnatspecialt Tue Jan 9, 2007 8:08 am (PST) John & Group I added original lower control arms on my site about a month ago. I had been collecting them up till I had enough to start a swap out service before I announced it. I will be posting a picture of the beefed up nose of the arm end where the ball set's on the underside. I didn't put a price on them only because I quoted a guy $125.00 ea the other day for a straightened out, reinforced nose, bead blasted, primed and repainted. Yes, I must have the old ones back .I will be making my own bushings to refit them with as soon as I get my new lathe in.. I will also buy or trade for any old ones or buy or trade for any of the original control arms you may buy. Just let me know what you have. I can press in new ball joints and I do recommend the retainer as I show on the site now. All this is shown on my new created suspension page on the site. I have 7 units in stock now. FOR SALE: VIN 1265, early 81, gas flap, automatic, black interior Posted by: "brucedduncan" brucedduncan@xxxxxxxxx brucedduncan Tue Jan 9, 2007 8:09 am (PST) VIN 1265 is an early car with dark wheels, a grooved hood with gas flap, black interior and an automatic. It has approximately 85K miles (odometer shows 75K but the angle drive was broken for a time). It is located in Walkersville, MD, just outside Frederick, about an hour from Baltimore or Washington D.C. It was extensively restored by P.J. Grady in 2001 and has been my daily driver ever since. I have included a detailed account of the car, including a number of high resolution pictures, at this website: http://bduncan.org/dmc4sale/ If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me off-list. For all the new DeLorean owners or "wannabe" owners, make sure to check out this car and how things were restored, by priority. Note: Radio did not work when he bought it and not fixed yet. Bruce bought the car and set mechanical reliability as the top priority when the car was sent to PJ Grady. I know I may be showing my age when I say the car's radio is not a priority, but that system is really just icing on the cake for a DeLorean and some people (many young) want to have the icing first. This car, as it is right now, is ready for the radio work. Good luck selling your DeLorean, Bruce. Later, Rich W. BTW: FYI - the D Rex still does not have a working radio either. Posted by: "robert parker" roberthparker@xxxxxxxxxxx Tue Jan 9, 2007 6:48 pm (PST) Ah, the fun of Delorean ownership! John Truscott forwarded information on a New Year's Eve Party at the Embassy Suites, here in Tulsa. I contacted Jeff, the manager, who told me the party's theme was to be "Back to the Futrure", and Time Machine form Oklahoma City would be playing. Would I be willing to put my Delorean on display? You bet I would! In return, I got to attend the festivities, graze the buffets (3,different), and stay the night. What a deal! As the theme was back to the Future, I wore my loafers, white socks, rolled-up Levi's, white T-shirt, & motorcycle jacket. I looked cooool! However, I ended up being the ONLY one dressing the part! Oh, well. It was fun, anyway. Happy New Year! I have pictures on file, but don't know how to send them without getting another Yahoo rejection. Tips? I know they are rare and most people wouldn't want them out of your hands so I am willing to make whatever (reasonable) concessions have to be made to make the loaner feel comfortable. . . Let me know if anyone would be open to this (I will pay for all shipping, etc.) mcb @ babbtechnology.com. No manuals will be harmed in this process. Thanks! (DML) Carbon Canister Replacment Posted by: "Warren Wallingford" warren@xxxxxxxxxx wartex99 Tue Jan 9, 2007 6:57 pm (PST) Here's something I've been talking about: A long-time customer from the East Coast called yesterday to get a few things for his D. He said that he had recently changed out his carbon canister after determining that the gas smell in his garage was the fault of the old canister. He further said he was surprised to find that when her replaced the canister, not only did his garage smell better, but the car idled more smoothly and ran a little better. We reckoned that this was the result of a very small vacuum leak now being plugged by his new canister. Live and learn. The canister is located in the LR pontoon behind an access panel. It doesn't require any special tools or skills to replace-except patience. Part number 101109, $52.50.
