IMO if he modified the block, he was doing it the hard way.... 
Everything else is interchangable with the 3 litre engine apart from the thread on the oil filter :-)


  Martin,

     Try putting a 2.8 oil pump into a 3.0 block and let me know what happens. Everything inside these engines is NOT interchangeable. Just because it will bolt into place does not mean it will work correctly. The pumps happen to be a few thousandths difference in depth. Enough so that the 2.8 pump will not build any oil pressure in the 3.0 block. And you can only guess at how I discovered this one out :-(
