Also, in case you don't know, insuring a D can be a nightmare even for
adults with great driving records. Insuring one as a teenager will be
either impossible or horrendously expensive (on the order of $4,000

what?" if you try to get it insured.>>
I'm sure that any of us who own a fully dependable DeLorean will agree that
finding and buying one was the easy part. Finding affordable insurance,
getting mechanical work done well, and paying to upgrade a 25 year old car are the
more expensive parts. Having it and not being able to use it is pain, not
pleasure. I let my son Richard buy his original dream car, a 1955 Chevy, when
he was 15. He did pay it off, but has never had the $$$ to fix it up. It's
been in the garage, taking the place of my D, for 7 years. He never even got to
drive it until last year, when I kicked in more than a grand just so his
grandfather could "see him drive it once before he dies." Now he's in med
school, with neither time nor money. So it sits. Anticipation is always more fun
than the disappointment of owning something unusable. There will still be
DeLoreans for sale after all of the current crop of teenage future owners have
more money to spend than me. Not mine though, my son would never let me sell
it, even to upgrade! :-)
