This is a loaded question but I'll try to answer in brief - I have an
automatic (manual was my preference but couldn't pass this one up). I have
changed out the transmission's governor/computer once (prone to failure -
cost of part is about $200.00 w/core) in the year I've owned the car. I
hope the new, re-built part will last several years.
Other than the governor/computer, the automatic is great. Yes, it's not as
fun as rowing through the gears of a manual, but still a nice compromise.
One big plus I understand from other owners is the ease of driving the car
in slow speeds in parades and other events.
E-mail me off line if you have any further questions.
Cheers,
Matt Carpenter

A few sellers have told me that DMCs with automatic transmission are
prone to lots of transmission trouble and you should always buy a DMC
that is a manual.
Any opinions or facts on this?
