Nick, here are a couple of ideas to check out: 1. Cylinders one and two are adjacent. This is probably a clue to your problem. Are you sure you don't have a cooling jacket obstruction of some sort in that area? You might also have an air leak there causing those cylinders to run lean. 2. How were the injectors tested? Did you do a flow test to be sure they are flowing in balance with the other cylinders? If not, don't assume they are working correctly. With the problem you describe there are NO second chances. Don't run the motor at speed again without checking this out. Another failure mode of injectors is that they may be sluggish from a timing point of view. The fact that the software appears to be working correctly does not mean the injectors are responding in a timely manner to the control signals, although it is unlikely that two adjacent cylinders would both have sluggish injectors. 3. Do a compression and/or leakdown test to confirm no gasket/valve/mechanical issues in those lungs. Again, the fact that adjacent cylinders are causing the problem is probably a big clue here, not to be overlooked! 4. I doubt that a 2 degree advance on three cylinders is responsible for severe pinging from only two cylinders. 5. My gut feeling is that you have an air leak in 1 and 2 and a compression/leakdown test should be performed. 6. You may want to have a mechanic use a bore scope to look inside 1 and 2 to see if any obvious damage has already been done. Good luck. -Joe Kuchan >I have been battling with this problem for some time (as Martin >knows -dmc UK) but i wanted to know if anyone else has experienced >this problem and offer some suggestions. > >A brief run down of the situation is that i have a supercharged >engine with EFI.
