Luke,
When I installed my cruise control I tried to figure out a way to prevent the
possibilty of the cable falling off the spool but couldn't develop a viable
solution so I opted to put the actuator in the bonnet and have it pull the gas
pedal. ... It works well that way. If anyone would like more info please let
me know.
D² & 6530 (Still using the 2700 ohm resistor in series with my pickup coil
and now offering a prize to anyone who can solve the problem.)

I recently finished installing a cruise control unit...
I just finished installing cruise control. On a long drive I
had the throttle cable jump track.
I got to thinking, if I removed the return spring on gas pedal, shouldn't
that help keep the pedal down & hence the throttle cable will stay taught in
the spool groove/guide? The throttle assembly on the engine has 3 different
return springs already... how much more help can this 4th one be?
I figured that if I did this & then added some kind of extra guides on the
spool, that I should be pretty much covered. Am I overlooking something
obvious? Any insight from the group?
