[DML] Cruise Control & Throttle Cables

I recently finished installing a cruise control unit...
(hey Marty! Remember that kit I bought 8 years ago? I just put it in!)
...anyway, so I just finished installing cruise control. On a long drive I
had the throttle cable jump track.
I got to thinking, if I removed the return spring on gas pedal, shouldn't
that help keep the pedal down & hence the throttle cable will stay taught in
the spool groove/guide? The throttle assembly on the engine has 3 different
return springs already... how much more help can this 4th one be?
I figured that if I did this & then added some kind of extra guides on the
spool, that I should be pretty much covered. Am I overlooking something
obvious? Any insight from the group?
