Back in my oil change days I learned you could take a shop vac, remove the claw on the hose, cover the round plastic end of the hose with a shop towel as if you were making a drum, and hold the towel onto the hose tight.  Take the oil fill cap off, put the hose over the hole so it makes as tight a fit as possible (while still holding the towel tight over the hose), and start the vacuum.  Then have an assistant remove the drain plug - no oil will come out!!  You will hear a gurgling but you won't get messy and you can take as much time as you want without losing the fresh oil.  If you lose the suction/seal over the fill hole by lifting the hose off, the oil will come out.  The rag will keep the oil from going into the vacuum, but I have done this trick maybe a dozen times and I have never even had oil on the rag when I was done.
 
Try it sometime!

In a pinch you can reuse the old washer if it isn't all munched up. A
large local auto parts store may have an assortment that you can pick
one from. You can also use a tiny bit of silicone sealer (sensor
safe!) too. Recheck the oil filter, maybe you missed it. It could be
scotch-taped to the filter or the box. Worst case you reuse the old
one, it leaks and you replace it when you get another. If you are
quick you won't lose much oil and you can use one finger to stop the
oil while you replace the washer.
