[DML] What is best way to remove shallow scratches from SS panels?

When I look at my D from a distance, it looks great!  However, close  up, and 
with the sun at certain angles, there are shallow scratches  visible.  The 
previous owner suggested a stell wool pad, but I don't want  to try something 
that could make things worse without hearing of possible  alternatives from DML 
members.  Without compromising the overall finish,  how can I remove the 
scratches?
