[DML] Re: Fuel Filter Change

Take out the old one, put in the new one. Easy on a lift. Wear
goggles and keep your mouth closed when you unhook the lines. Let the
car sit about an hour before you start unhooking things or release
the fuel pressure up at the fuel distributor.

I've run into two problems:
--There was, for a while, a Bosch filter available (under the exact
same part number) that had a different connection on the inlet side,
and would never tighten up (it was designed for a banjo fitting and
not the pipe fitting used on the car). I think these are all out of
the normal supply chains now.

--With some Bosch filters, if you overtighten the fitting on the
inlet end it can bottom out inside the filter and choke off the fuel
flow. After you move the fitting to the new filter, make sure that
you can still blow thru it. This can be cured by either not over-
tightening the fitting or grinding it a bit shorter. If the car
refuses to start after you change the filter this is probably what
happened.

After doing all this it may take a couple more cranks than normal to
re-start the car as the system fills back up and pressurizes.
