My response to the "where's the flux capacitor?" query goes as 
follows:

Delorean offered the flux capacitor as a factory option for the 1984 
model. Since the company went bankrupt the prototype 1984 models 
were sold to FOX for use in the Back to the Future series.

Usually they just stand there dumbfounded.
