Another possibility is that the wiper belcrank contact on the
driver's side is sloppy and worn and therefore no longer makes
contact. Throwing the driver's lock does not trigger the lock module
because the belcrank is not making contact, but throwing the
passenger side triggers the lock module just fine since the belcrank
is making good contact on the passenger side.
