RE: [DML] Intercooler

I don't have a direct answer for you but pick up a book called Supercharged!
by Corky Bell. It's a good resource for that kind of stuff.

  Subject: [DML] Intercooler

  Hi,

I have a question that i have had trouble getting a straight answer
for and hope someone here can help (i ahve asked lots of so called
  experts!)

I have decided that i would like to fit an intercooler in with my
supercharger as the intake air temp is currently running approx 30-
40 deg c above ambient air temp. The most convienient size
intercooler that i can fit in is an aftermarket MR2 intercooler.
200mm x 200mm x 100mm core with a thermo fan to draw the air through
it. It would be mounted near the current air inlet hole that enters
  the engine bay.

My Question is....Is an intercooler that small actually going to do
anything (bearing in mind it will run a thermo fan also) or is it
too small and cause a restriction and limit boost?? Note the MR2
turbo is probibaly is a higer horse power car.

Everyone you speak to seems to stick by the saying 'any intercooler
is better than none' but is this true ? ? ? ? The MR2 intercooler
will have the same size inlet and outlet as the supercharger (3
  inch).

I have just upgraded the supercharger to an Eaton M90.

Is there a formula to work out the flow rates etc etc ? ?

  Cheers, Nick
