I don't know where/what photo you are talking about the shows a broken one - can you email tsend me the URL for it? I understand what you are saying, but I have seen them ruster/broken in both places you are talking about. I'm not sure that I agree that a break in one place in OK to repair with a weld more than the other. I've been in touch with the two men who were in charge of the NHTSA air bag and crash tests with the two DeLoreans back in 1981 for an article I am writing for "deloreans" magazine. I'll see if I can get a hold of them again and see if they want to offer their opinion, which I certainly think is more valuable than anyone who has commented in this thread, my own included. It is not designed to collapse where the X's cross, it is designed to collapse between the crosses. The fact that it is broken where it is indicates a design flaw. It should never break period. How would you like to have those ends jammed into your leg, or worse, in the event of an accident. I would have it welded and have all the other points where the crosses are formed strengthened at the same time. > > Chris > 06301 To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
