Max,
I have a feeling that this is a not-too-unusual problem. I had my tachometer replaced by DMC Garden Grove (they've done a ton of work for me and without problem - I recommend them highly) and although Ididn't notice it at the time I drove away, my previously working gas gauge no longer functions. I assume its some simple connection (like those you've described) on the back of the instrument panel that needs to be re-seated. I would have taken it right back, but the return trip from where I was to their shop was about 2.5 hours, I was on a tight time-frame (and they hurried some work because of it - the likely cause of the oversight on their part) and moved myself and the "D" from southern California to southern Washington within a day or so thereafter. The next time either I pull the dash apart or have the car back to Don and Danny at DMC for something else, I'll get it addressed. For now, I use the trip odometer as my gas gauge: fill up and reset....around 150+ miles, I know to look for a gas station to avoid problems.
Best of luck and please let me know what you find out in correcting your situation.
Thanks
Craig Werner

Fuel guage info

Hi All,
At the back of the fuel guage there are 3 "pillars" that connect the
fuel guage to the plastic "circuit board". Does anyone know which one
does what?
After pulling out my dash to fix the trip meter and putting it back
again the fuel gauge needle now point straight up (ie vertical). I
have fixed all my other issues (thank you to the member that suggested
the LED's have polarity, I turned some around and they now all work).
I checked and re-checked the connections, I tried turning the needle
down but as soon as I turn the key in the ignition it shoots straight
up again.
Is there a way that I can connect some AA batteries to the gauge (with
some sort of variable resistor) so that I can check if it even moves?
Thanks in advance,
Max
