Yes, but my assumption is that once things warm up, it is always
significantly above atmospheric. I was picturing some logic that
would detect the sudden drop in pressure. Not hard.

You'd be surprised. I blew a hose once at highway speed, and it just
wasn't all that obvious. If you don't happen to glance through the
mirror at the right time, your first signal just might be catastrophic.
