A cleaner, albet more expensive, option is to buy a new radio. My
Eclipse only raises the antenna in AM/FM mode. Turn on the CD player
or AUX inputs (for the iPod) and it lowers it automatically.

The stereo in my Montero is obnoxious - if you turn on just the CD
player, the antenna stays down. But if you turn on the radio, then
switch to the CD player, it leaves it up. I can't stand driving down
the road with objects needless deployed from my vehicle, so I always
turn it off, wait for the antenna to lower, then push the "CD" button
to go directly to playing a CD.
