Two things go check. First measure the voltage at the output of the alternator...if it is correct (above 13 volts) then start looking for bad grounds and + 12 volt connections.
Checking the alternator output (from its output terminal to the case of the alternator) will show the condition of the alternator. After that bad grounds or + 12 connections will show as voltage loss. My favorite suggestion is, after the alternator is eliminated as a problem, measure the voltage between the case of the alternator and a ground point in the car...if you see anything above one or two tenths of a volt, then start looking for bad grounds. This is best looked for with a system load...lights on or lights and a/c on with the motor running. All will be revealed.
