I am fairly confidant its a valve tick. I have looked at the exhaust and it appears ok, the sound is definately coming from the valve cover. Is there a way to tell for sure? The ODO says 37,000 miles (unconfirmed). I think a more accurate assessment would be around 60,000 as the angle drive was shot when I got the car. Dont think it would be much more than that, the engine is super strong.
