Deloreans are exotic, yes. But expensive, no. Well, not compared to a
lotus or ferrari or the like anyway. I'm in probably about the same
situation as the originator of this thread. When I bought my D for $8k,
I pretty much knew what I was getting myself into on it. I knew I
wouldn't be able to drive the car any time soon. I knew i'd be paying at
minimum an amount equal to the purchase price for parts to get the car
back in great shape, and I knew it would take me quite a long time to
finish the restoration. Saying someone can't afford a delorean just
because they aren't rich enough is just mean. You can own one on a
$30k/yr salary. Either you can buy a cheap one, and fix it yourself
knowing you'll have about $20k in it when your done, or you can get a
loan and buy one in good shape to begin with and just make payments on
it like you would with any other car.
