Sometimes it is the "simple" stuff that gets you. For the rest of your problems I suggest you check the coil and/or the ignition wires. That could be why your plugs were fouled in the first place. Also make sure the mechanical AND the vacuum adance are working. You really don't need the second spring. Once you have all that running right check your base timing and set the mixture.
