I second this advice. If you are using your D as a daily driver, gunk gets
into these small holes (original openings) and allow water to fill up over the
motor level. This in turn will short out the motor and the circuit it works
on. This includes the dash lights and the running side lights. The cure is to
drill out the drain holes a little larger, takes a couple of min but solves
the problem long term. Also the advice of taking off the front tie to do this
is correct. It does make the job easier, it can be done the other way but
lining up inner bottle and then the cover is hard to do if you can't see the
holes.
