It has more to do with aerodynamics than RPM's. If you can stay under
45 MPH you will get the best gas mileage. Don't run the A/C, lights,
heater, rear defroster, etc. Make sure the brakes don't drag and
overinflate the tires a couple of pounds. Don't fill the gas tank past
1/2. Remove everything you can including the spare tire. Some of these
suggestions are not very practical to actually use. In the end it has
more to do with your driving style than anything else.
